Hi! My name is Elijah, and I am a recent college graduate with over 15 years of experience on the piano. Throughout learning the instrument, I have come to value self-expression, interpretation, and ear training when performing a piece within my repertoire; therefore, I strive to encourage students to share opinions and their feelings when approaching the piano. While I attended Las Vegas Academy as a piano major and took private lessons in college, I expanded my catalogue learning and appreciating many composers within the Romantic period, including Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Brahms. So, while I am able to teach students of all levels the core aspects and pieces of each musical period, I will always have a soft spot for the Romantic era. I have also composed personal works for collegiate performances, including piano trios, quartets, and quintets, and I love finding new sounds and hues with unique chords and melodies. Current projects I am learning are Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 15 in D Major and Yiruma’s “Sunset Bird”, and I plan on picking up one of Brahms’ Hungarian Dances afterward. I hope this gives a better background as to who I am as a pianist, and I look forward to being a piano teacher for you and/or your child(ren)!
